The Importance Of Being On Page One Of Google

We see it all the time.  Business owners setup a website and think that is all they have to do. Now the internet traffic will just magically find their website and the sales will start to roll in.

I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but it takes a LOT more work than that to generate a large amount of web traffic to your site.  You need to have a well thought out strategy to get your site to the first page of Google, and you need to start implementing it right away.

Right now 49% of Google’s search engine traffic clicks on the very first listing in the search results.  That’s right.  49%.  What could that mean for your business?  If you are in a line of business whose keywords are searched 15,000 times a month, that means nearly 7500 unique visitors each month just from search engine traffic.  What if it is a highly popular field that is searched for 50,000 times a month?  100,000 searches?  500,000 searches?

Here’s another fact for you.  A whopping 92% of Google’s users never look past page three of the search results.  Guess what that means?  If you are not on the first three pages of Google, chances are 92% of the traffic on Google has no idea that you or your business exists.

As of 2008, 39% of internet users believed that businesses who were found on page one of the search results were industry leaders.

What are you doing today to get your business to Page One?
